    SCHOOL PROFILE
     
    Madisonville North Hopkins High School is a comprehensive high school with an enrollment of approximately 1,100 students in grades 9 through 12. The school population consists of approximately 20% African American and 35% free lunch. 
     
    The school is a member of the College Entrance Examination Board and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Kentucky Department of Education. Approximately 70% of graduates enroll in a post-secondary educational institution. 
     
    The curriculum includes Pre-AP courses in all core areas and fourteen Advanced Placement courses in English Language and Literature, World History, U.S. History, U.S. Government & Politics, Psychology, French, Spanish, Statistics, Calculus AB & BC, Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science. In addition, dual credit or articulated credit courses in Business, Agriculture, Engineering, Information Technology, Health Sciences, Industrial Technology, and Family and Consumer Science.
     
    The school year is divided into three trimesters. A trimester is 12 weeks long with half-credit awarded at the end of each trimester.
     
    A total of 26.5 credits are required for graduation. Class rank is based on all non-AP subjects being given equal credit without weighting and weighted credit given for AP courses, with a weight of 1 for all Advanced Placement Courses. All students enrolled in the class are considered in determining class rank. On half-credit represents one trimester of work. Classes meet for 12 weeks, 58 minutes per period with 6 classes each day.
