Yes, everyone will need to reapply in order to participate in our program for the 2023-2024 school year.

The ELO-P funding provided by the state is indicated for students who fall into one or more of three categories:  English Language Learners, Free and Reduced Lunch* & Foster Youth.  (*Meals have been provided to all students this school year at no cost; this does not automatically constitute eligibility.) Families will be notified directly of their eligibility in the coming days.

Families who are eligible for ELO-P should submit the same online application as anyone needing child care through the “Request Elementary Child Care for 2023-2024” link once it becomes active on March 21, 2023. Monthly costs shown for after-school programs are waived for ELO-P eligible families. CDCC will mark your child as eligible for ELO-P funding once your application has been submitted and reviewed.

Every student enrolled in Glendale Unified schools has a unique. 6-digit student ID number. This number is required for you to complete our forms. You can find this number on your child’s report card, your Parent Portal, your child’s Google Classroom, or by contacting your child’s school office to ask for assistance.

If your child does not yet have a student ID, please put in a placeholder of 000000 in the application and we can add the number later after it has been created.

Due to legislation and funding requirements, participation in and enrollment for child care has moved to an eligibility-based process. This means that spaces in child care will be offered first to eligible students in accordance with state funding requirements and additional spaces may be available, as staffing allows, to students who do not qualify. Eligible students are those identified by GUSD’s student information as foster youth, English Language Learners, and those who qualify for free or reduced-priced meals. 

Enrollment Priorities For Child Care

• Student who qualify for subsidized child care

• Students who qualify for Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) 

• Students of GUSD staff members

• Returning private pay families

• New private pay families

We anticipate having private pay spots available, but we are not able to guarantee a space in child care for everyone who could potentially want it, as the number of spots we are able to offer in child care is dependent on staffing. We understand that many working families depend on child care at their school site, and we will add as many students as staffing safely allows.

Confirmations for our program will be sent to families by the end of May.  We will also notify families who are waitlisted and not immediately placed.  

Yes. Families with students who are new to Glendale Unified School District, such as incoming TK or Kindergarten families, can request child care by clicking the "Request Elementary Child Care for 2023-2024 " link at the top of this page, beginning March 21, 2023.

Children who attend a school with ASES grant funding (Balboa, Cerritos, Columbus, Edison, Franklin, Jefferson, Mann, Marshall, and Muir) and who are not receiving funding from other contracts or grants were automatically entered into the ASES Lottery (run on April 24, 2023) for a chance to receive this funding. If your child's name was selected by the lottery, afternoon child care will be provided at no recurring cost. Please note that children receiving ASES funding are expected to stay until 6 p.m. and must have a long-term early release form on file with the site.

We have subsidy child care programs for students who are preschool age through elementary. To apply, click the "apply for child care" button at the top of this page our office at 818-247-0775.

Our program capacity is subject to our staffing and we must follow required student to staff ratios and therefore we do reach capacity at many sites and have waiting lists.Therefore, our priority for enrollment is first to those students who are eligible and then for families who need the greatest amount of care.  We do strive to meet the needs of all families and will do our best at each site to increase capacities if needed and work with families with varying schedules.

Yes. Teen Scene is funded through the ASES grant at Roosevelt, Toll and Wilson Middle Schools. Teen Scene at Rosemont is available for a fee with priority for those who need the most care. More information about Teen Scene sign ups will be available later this spring.
