Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)

  • The Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program is for students in grades 4-6. Students are initially identified based on their California Standardized Test scores. If they meet a minimum qualification, they are then invited to take the Otis Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT). They must score in the 92nd percentile or higher. Once students are identified, they are qualified as a GATE student for their entire career in GUSD.

Fremont GATE students spend all class time with their peers but also receive extended learning opportunities through field trips and extra-curricular activities so that identified students are appropriately challenged. Special programs for students sponsored by the district’s GATE office include California Math League Contest, Math Field Day, Scholastic Bowl and Invention Convention.
