Good standing has been established at Ellensburg Middle School to demonstrate our commitment to academic excellence, high expectations, and the belief that all students can learn. To help students better prepare to meet State standards we are committed to monitoring student progress and providing targeted assistance for those students who clearly need more support.

Students must be passing all classes and have not received an in-school or out-of-school suspension in the previous quarter to be considered in Good Standing. Students in Good Standing are eligible for certain privileges such as assemblies, field trips, socials, clubs, TA’s (8th graders only), and academic competitions.

*Special activities may include ASB, Peer Mediation, TATU, Honors Camp

-Share Good Standing expectations in Homeroom during the 1st week of school

-Post Good Standing definition and privilege chart in classroom

-Keep grades updated

-Share Good Standing expectations with parents during Open House

-Supervise students who lose Good Standing privileges

-Reinforce Good Standing throughout the school year

-Good Standing definition and privilege chart will be posted on our school’s website

-Information is included in the student handbook

-A brief presentation will be provided during Open House

-Develop a system for frequent monitoring

-Provide continued before and afterschool homework help

-Develop a lunch homework center

-Offer study skill classes for 7th and 8th graders

-Offer enrichment classes for reading and math at all grade levels
