Where are they now? Fox Chapel Area's Meghan DeLuca

Please join us in thanking Meghan DeLuca, a 2022 Fox Chapel Area graduate, who recently visited our Health and Nursing Sciences program!

Meghan was a two-year student in the HNS program and is now a phlebotomist at UPMC St. Margaret's Hospital. Meghan is also a student at CCAC and is going into their Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Her long-term goal is to work at UPMC Children's Hospital as a Cardiac Sonographer.

"I enjoy interacting with patients and working at UPMC helps prepare me to further my career in healthcare," she said.

While visiting the HNS program, she demonstrated the proper way to perform venipuncture or phlebotomy and shared her experiences working in a hospital.

"It was important to me to visit the HNS program to share how much Beattie, especially Mrs. Dietz, prepared me for healthcare," Meghan said. "The information I was taught and the advice I was given helped me to be in the place I am today."

Attending A.W. Beattie's Health and Nursing Sciences program, Meghan said, gave her a leg up in college and her career.

"Many things we have gone over and learned about, came up as new things in college or work, and I felt prepared because I already knew them," Meghan said. "Beattie also taught me many good studying and learning skills. Beattie taught me how to be professional in a healthcare setting. Mrs. Dietz taught us so much about what I would need and shared helpful inside tips. Thanks to Beattie, I learned med math, anatomy and physiology, patient care tech and self-care skills that have made me the student and worker I am today."
