Teacher spotlight: Getting to know Ms. Zelazowski

Ms. Joani Zelazowski is A.W. Beattie's Cosmetology instructor for first-year students. We asked a few questions to learn more about her, and we will feature another staff member next week.

What was your first job?
I was the very first Nail Technician at J.C. Penney in Ross Park Mall when it first opened in the mid 1980’s.

Why did you become a cosmetology teacher?
I wanted to share my passion with up-and-coming beauty professionals.  

What do you enjoy most about the cosmetology field?
I get paid to make people look AND feel beautiful every day!

What do you feel is the key to teaching?
If there is PASSION, there is no key! 

What can you be found doing when you’re not teaching?
Trying out restaurants around our beautiful city.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?
Step Brothers, FOR SURE!

What activities are at the top of your bucket list?
Anything that includes the ocean!

What can you reveal that people might not expect about you?
I lived in Germany for 3 years.
