Teacher Spotlight: Getting to know Mrs. Gibson

Mrs. Gibson is A.W. Beattie's Dental Careers and Pharmacy instructor. We asked her a few questions to learn a little bit more about her. We will feature another staff member next week.

What was your first job?
Babysitting and grocery store.

Why did you become a teacher?
My dental assisting teacher, when I went to Beattie, really inspired me.  I loved my job and wanted to share my passion to up and coming dental/pharmacy students.

What do you enjoy most about the dental/pharmacy field?
I love helping others feel good about themselves, and there are always dental and pharmacy jobs available.

What do you feel is the key to teaching?
I always tell them that I sat where they are and I know how difficult it can be, but they are able to achieve their goals.  Definitely, having the lessons be fun and interesting helps.

What can you be found doing when you’re not teaching?
When I am not teaching,  I am either running to a lacrosse game or practice.  My family has a camp in both Tionesta and Somerset, so I spend time there as well.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?
My favorite TV show is This Is Us.

What can you reveal that people might not expect about you?
My natural hair color is black.
