Teacher Spotlight: Getting to know Mr. Ricetti

Mr. Don Ricetti is A.W. Beattie's Computer Systems Technology, Network Engineering and Cyber Security instructor. We asked a few questions to learn a little bit more about him, and we will feature another staff member next week.

What was your first job?
Working in a lumber yard.

Why did you become a teacher?
I kind of stumbled on it. I was working as an Adjunct Instructor at ITT when I met Mr. Joe Miller before he came to Beattie. He mentioned me when they needed a long-term sub, and 15 years later I’m still here.

What do you enjoy most about the technology field?
Constant change. It’s interesting where technology came from and where it may evolve into.

What do you feel is the key to teaching?
Keep students interested and cultivate a passion to always keep learning.

What can you be found doing when you’re not teaching?
Working on my farm, doing historic re-enactments (not Civil War) and exploring underwater as a certified diver.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?
TV would be Airwolf, and movie is The Final Countdown.

What activities are at the top of your bucket list?
Do a dive at Truk Lagoon and the atomic fleet at Bikini Atoll.

What can you reveal that people might not expect about you?
I don’t like to be photographed or hugged!
