Teacher spotlight: Getting to know Mr. Carlini
Mr. Eric Carlini is A.W. Beattie's Carpentry instructor. We asked a few questions to learn a little bit more about him, and we will feature another staff member next week.
What was your first job?
Maintenance boy at a convenience store
Why did you become a Carpentry teacher?
My career goal as a carpenter was to head up the complete construction on a skyscraper. At age 40 when I realized that I would probably never raise a skyscraper, I set my sights on something higher and longer lasting, building the minds of future "constructioneers."
What do you enjoy most about the carpentry field?
I enjoy stepping back at the end of the day and being able to physically see my accomplishments.
What do you feel is the key to teaching?
I believe that all students should be able to see the relevancy of the lesson to their future in their chosen career.
What can you be found doing when you’re not teaching?
I enjoy riding my motorcycle, skydiving, singing karaoke and hunting but mostly enjoy time with my family.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?
Apollo 13
What activities are at the top of your bucket list?
Nothing, I am already a skydiver.
What can you reveal that people might not expect about you?
I enjoy sewing.
