Students give back to community during holiday season

Two student organizations led efforts to give back to our community season.

grace manor

Beattie Assistance Team students have been volunteering since 2013 at Grace Manor.

The BAT Team sings carols and decorates Christmas cookies every December with the residents. They also recently purchased presents for the residents that Santa Claus (North Hills High School counselor Dr. David Barkovich) passed out.

"Volunteering with this group makes all of us feel like kids at heart," A.W. Beattie counselor Kim Zylinski said.

The Beattie Assistance Team is open to any student who wishes to better their community. In addition to visiting residents at Grace Manor, BAT Team students have also written letters to deployed military members, made no-sew throw blankets for a women’s shelter, and assisted other VSO’s with the picnic benches.

A.W. Beattie students in FCCLA also got into the holiday spirit by hosting a toy drive and collecting more than 60 presents and gift cards for The Lighthouse Foundation.
