Mrs. Ellis becomes Learning Facilitator

Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Bella Ellis who is now a Learning Facilitator at A.W. Beattie Career Center!

Mrs. Ellis earned a Bachelor’s Degree, Elementary Teaching Certification, and Master’s Degree at the University of Pittsburgh and has worked for 21 years in special education. She has worked for the last three years at the Career Center as a long-term substitute and instructional assistant.

"I know it's a cliché answer, but I got into teaching because I love children of all ages," Mrs. Ellis said. "It doesn't seem like work when I'm teaching. I think it's fun!"

Mrs. Ellis' initial goal was to become an elementary school teacher but decided to continue her education after earning her Bachelor's degree and substitute teaching.

"That experience made me realize I needed additional schooling to be the type of teacher that I wanted to be," she said. "I went back to school for Special Ed in order to be able to meet the needs of any student who was in my classroom."

She is looking forward to fulfilling her new role.

"I have been with Beattie for three years now and have enjoyed it," she said. "I respect the professionalism of the administration and employees there. Everyone is always kind and welcoming. I think it's important to genuinely like who you work with. I am excited and look forward to my new role as learning facilitator!"
