Meet our new school police officer, Robert Scott
Join us in welcoming Officer Robert Scott to the A.W. Beattie family!
Officer Scott served the Cheswick community for 38 years, including 9 years as the police chief. He always told his wife that he would want to continue working when his time was up in the borough.
“What really attracted me to Beattie is that I would be working with 10th, 11th and 12th grade students, because I’ve always related to older teenagers very well,” Officer Scott said. “I thought it was a great extension of my career to still be involved with law enforcement, and I noticed right away how nice everyone was here. When I was offered the job, I couldn’t wait to start.”
Officer Scott worked and trained with schools in Cheswick for how to answer to situations that would involve a law enforcement response. He said it was always a learning experience for everyone involved.
Within his new role at the career center, Officer Scott looks forward to connecting with students.
“The most rewarding part about being in law enforcement is when you help somebody and make a difference in their lives,” Officer Scott said. “When you become a police officer, you want to be there for people. I want them to know if they notice a problem or if they have a problem, they can come up to me and I’ll help in any way I can.”
