ECE Senior of the Year plans to be Kindergarten teacher
Congratulations to A.W. Beattie co-salutatorian Emily Morrison who was also named the Senior of the Year in the Early Childhood Education program!
Emily, a Shaler Area School District senior, plans to be a kindergarten teacher after attending CCAC for two years and then transferring to Slippery Rock or Clarion.
Emily learned about A.W. Beattie's ECE program in 9th grade and knew she had to try it.
"At Beattie, I enjoyed the overall environment," Emily said. "Everyone was always happy and said 'hello' to me everyday. I always felt welcome. In my class specifically, I enjoyed how it was a judgment free zone, and we were like a big ECE family."
Some of Emily's favorite memories stem from field trips and holiday parties the students hosted for pre-schoolers.
"Mrs Cari and Mrs. Diane have made the biggest impact in my life," Emily said. "They've both helped me through so much, personally and educationally. They've helped me grow into a better person and teacher, and I will forever be grateful. They are true inspirations"
Emily is a National Technical Honor Society member, and she also participated in FCCLA, SkillsUSA and Junior Achievement, in which she had the opportunity to student teach elementary students.
