CST Senior of the Year to double major at RMU
Congratulations to Pine-RIchland's Matthew Mahafkey who was named our Senior of the Year in the Computer Systems Technology/Network Engineering program!
Matthew will attend Robert Morris University to study Cyber Security and Data Forensics. He called attending A.W. Beattie a "no-brainer" after going on a field trip to the career center and meeting CST instructor Mr. Ricetti.
"What isn’t there to enjoy about Beattie?" Matthew said. "You get real world experience, an instructor who truly cares about you and how you do and an environment that makes it feel like you aren’t learning until it’s too late."
Mr. Ricetti also made every day in class exciting, Matthew said.
"He always found a way to make you smile or laugh," Matthew said. "He stood by my side through the thick and thin with the work and the other stuff going on everywhere else. I will miss literally everything, I will miss the staff, the students, my friends and foes, my instructors and all of the experiences I have had."
Matthew is in National Technical Honor Society, a Beattie Ambassador, an Information Technology summer interm and a Pine-Richland Marching Band member. He looks forward to being a Cyber Security Specialist.
"I want to be a Cyber security specialist, because I have always loved playing a good game of chess," Matthew said. "The field is just a place where you get to play the game, get paid, and never work a day, because if you truly love what you do, you will never work a day in your life."
