Cosmetology Senior of the Year 'ready' for career
Congratulations to Courtney Huber who was named the Senior of the Year in A.W. Beattie's Cosmetology program!
Courtney, a Hampton Township School District senior, followed in her mother's footsteps by attending a cosmetology program while in high school.
"I wanted to be a cosmetologist ever since I was little," Courtney said. "If that means owning my own salon, being a cosmetology teacher, or working on celebrities - whatever it may be in the cosmetology field - I am ready."
Courtney's favorite senior memories include GameDay Friday when the class played games like Mannequin Bowling to study in a fun way, participating in SkillsUSA and learning from Cosmetology instructor Mrs. Cazin.
"I appreciate a lot about Mrs.Cazin," Courtney said. "She helped me grow as a cosmetologist and as a person. She got me into SkillsUSA to compete in the cosmetology part of it. Competing in SkillsUSA taught me a lot about how I need to keep track of how much time I am taking to do one thing. She has also showed me that I can be more than the hairstylist behind the chair. I could be a cosmetology teacher, I could work for a product line, I could have my own salon, I could work for celebrities, and I could work for movies, TV shows, or music videos."
Courtney also participated in Color Guard at Hampton, and she helped organize A.W. Beattie Cosmetology Showcases during the fall and and spring open houses.
"I am definitely going to miss my classmates and seeing them everyday," Courtney said.
