A.W. Beattie Coronavirus Update as of March 31, 2020

Dear A. W. Beattie Family,

Everyone from the Career Center wishes our families safety and positive health during these continuing challenging times.

With the announcement of Governor Wolf on Monday, A.W. Beattie Career Center will remain closed indefinitely.  The staff of the Career Center will continue to move forward with our continuity of education plan instituted on Monday, March 30th.  This forward movement will allow us to continue with providing planned CTE program area curriculum instruction in a virtual/online format during the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.  We will continue with virtual instruction until we return to the Career Center building or are advised otherwise through the PA Department of Education.  We realize that a key component of the daily hands-on instruction will not always be achievable.  The instructors are working to the best of their ability to fill-in those areas. 

Instructors will provide daily lessons in a variety of formats and will be available for “on-line office hours” to assist all students.  The instructors will be able to provide access to the Learning Facilitators, ESL support, and the School Counselors for any student requiring assistance during the school day.  Instructors have been working throughout the initial engagement period to establish contacts with students.  Students that still require initial instructor contact, please reach out to your instructor through their Career Center email address located on the Beattie website at www.beattietech.com under the directory tab.  Instructors will continue to send emails to students for instructional contact.  Instructors will continue to maintain a daily attendance log to track participation.  We realize there may be situations that hinder participation, and students should share that information directly with their instructor.

A.W. Beattie Career Center will observe the following Spring Break schedule:

• Thursday, April 9th – No Virtual Instruction (No School) – Spring Break
• Friday, April 10th – No Virtual Instruction (No School) – Spring Break (Good Friday)
• Monday, April 13th – No Virtual Instruction (No School) – Spring Break
• Tuesday, April 14th – No Virtual Instruction (No School) – Teacher in-Service Day
• Wednesday, April 15th - Student Electronic Virtual Instruction Resumes
