2021 Surgical Sciences Senior of the Year to attend Penn State
Congratulations to North Allegheny’s Anagha Patwari who was named the 2021 Senior of the Year in A.W. Beattie’s Surgical Sciences program!
Anagha chose to attend Beattie’s Surgical Sciences program to learn what it would be like to be in the Surgical field. She plans to attend Penn State for Biomedical Engineering with Pre-Med to become a surgeon or doctor.
“I had Miller Career Center at my old school district, and I knew I wanted to go to a career center in high school,” Anagha said. “I’ve also always been a big fan of bio, anatomy and physiology, and when I watch surgeries, I get really excited and really into it. So, I thought this program would be the best for me.”
Anagha is the inaugural Senior of the Year in the Surgical Sciences program, which is the first of its kind at the high school level in Pennsylvania.
“I really enjoyed learning the surgical positions and why you’re performing different procedures for those positions,” she said. “It gives you real insight into what’s inside the OR and how it operates and what you have to do. Learning all of the little gritty details is important and exciting.”
Anagha is in Best Buddies, HOSA, National English Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, and Science National Honor Society. She was also the varsity swim captain and a cross country runner at her former school in Texas and swam for North Allegheny in her junior year. Anagha is also involved in dance.
Good Luck Anagha!
