2021 – 2022 Updated Health and Safety Plan

Dear Beattie Families,

The Joint Operating Committee of the Career Center has approved the Updated Health and Safety Plan for the start of the 2021-2022 school year.  This updated plan will enable us to remain in person five days a week for the continuity of our education model for all students.   As we bring back over 900 students and nearly 75 staff members that have multiple contacts outside the building the protection of all is critical to remain in school uninterrupted.  It was clear last year that the students want to be here in person. 

The approved plan has three approaches to ensure our continuity of education:

1. During levels of substantial and high spread of COVID within Allegheny County all students will be required to wear a face mask and instructors will be required to wear a face mask or shield during the instructional day when inside the building.
2. During a moderate level of transmission within the county all unvaccinated students and staff members will be required to follow the guidance in item #1.  All other students and staff members will be encouraged to follow the same guidance.
3. During a low level COVID designation in the county, students and staff will not be required to wear a mask or face shield.  Students and staff members during this designation may still wear a face mask or shield if they wish.

We will continue to sanitize the building nightly and address high touch areas between the morning and afternoon sessions.  As last year, each classroom will have hand sanitizer available for daily use.   We have posted a daily check list for families to reference if your child is experiencing respiratory symptoms throughout the school year. Again, we will continue to provide updates throughout the year and adjust as conditions change.  Additional information is posted at www.beattietech.com.
