October 22, 2021 – Read Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 Superintendent Dr. Mark B. Skertich’s message shared today with families and the community:

Kahok Families,
Fall temperatures have arrived and with any luck, the grass will stop growing in the weeks ahead. Parent/Teacher Conferences are right around the corner on Thursday, October 28th and Friday, October 29th. Communication between home and school is vital. Parent/Teacher Conferences are a great way for school personnel and families to connect and discuss each child’s academic and social emotional growth. If you have not scheduled an appointment for your child or children, please do so as soon as possible.
On October 18th the Board of Education approved a revision to the 2021-2022 school calendar making Friday, November 12th a non-attendance day. The change will add an additional day at the end of the school year. Tentatively, if no emergency days are utilized, the last day of student attendance will now be Thursday, May 19th, followed by a Teachers’ Institute Day on Friday, May 20th. It is no secret that substitutes are hard to find for every position in our district. Absent the calendar change, the substitute shortage would have left many vacancies on November 12th unfilled, jeopardizing the safety and well-being of our students. I apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause families. I hope the four-day weekend provides some rest, relaxation and family time. Please click use THIS LINK to access the updated 2021-22 calendar.
After the pandemic suspended the event in 2020, November 10th marks the return of the C3 (Collinsville Community Collaboration) Awards celebrating local businesses and individuals who have a positive impact on our community. Congratulations to the Kahoks being recognized this year: CHS teacher Mark Schusky, Stan Schaffer Education Community Leadership Award; CHS seniors Megan Houberg and Sean-Jeramie Brown, Leaders of Tomorrow. For ticket information and to see the list of all honorees, please visit the City of Collinsville website.
Finally, I would like to congratulate the CHS Boys’ Soccer Team for capturing the Southwestern Conference title and the CHS Football Team, who looks to close out regular season play with a victory over Centralia tonight, on a great regular season. I want to wish both teams the best of luck in post-season play in the days ahead. GO KAHOKS!
THANK YOU for your constant dedication to our students and don’t forget to wear your purple and show your Kahok Pride!
Sincerely,
Mark B. Skertich Ed.D.
