About Me:

Welcome!  My name is Dara Barnes. While studying psychology at Appalachian State University, I decided that I was most interested in working with children, so I completed my Master's Degree in School Psychology. I have been employed as a School Psychologist in Caldwell County Schools for over 25 years.  In addition to KCS, I am the Lead School Psychologist for the district and serve several other schools from preschool through high school.  There are currently only five School Psychologists in all of Caldwell County Schools.

As a School Psychologist, my role is to support students' ability to learn and support teachers' ability to teach.  I collaborate with a variety of others, including parents, teachers, administrators, counselors, social workers, nurses, and community agencies to promote both academic and social/emotional development.

At home, I am married and have one son, who is a student at WLMS.  I personally enjoy playing games/puzzles, renovation projects, yardwork/gardening, reading, and ice cream.
