I was born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. I earned my degree in English Education from Appalachian State University. At AppState, I was a part of Watauga Residential College. I once had a teacher who said he never worked a day in his life because he loves what he does. I believe that to be true for myself as well. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to teach. 

I am passionate about having my students develop excitement for reading and writing. One of my favorite aspects of the classroom is watching the excitment that enfolds when students are able to pick their independent reading books.
