B.S. - History, Secondary Education from Appalachian State University

Mrs. Cindel Chavers

My Background

My name is Cindel Chavers, and I am teaching Civics and Economics this year. I have been working at Caldwell Early College High School since 2009. I have taught US History, Freshman Seminar, Sophomore Seminar, and Civics and Economics at CECHS. I am from Lexington, North Carolina, which is the ultimate barbecue center. (You should look up the Barbecue Festival in October). However, I was born in Asheville, North Carolina, and love the mountains. I graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in History, Secondary Education, including a Social Science Licensure in 2008. Go Mountaineers!! My dad was a revolutionary war reenactor with the Guilford Battleground. This is where I gained a lot of my love for history. I love teaching and look forward to several PBL (Project Based Learning) simulations this year, including a Mock Election, Mock Congress, Mock Trial, and a rewrite of Hamilton.

My Family

I am married to the wonderful Mr. Nicholas Chavers.  We have two children, Marcus, born in 2012, Lily, born in 2016, and a Pomeranian named Rocky, born in 2009. In my spare time, I love to read and do crafts with my children. We love all of the festivals around the holidays and planning big themed birthdays. In the fall, we love to bob for apples, play in the leaves, paint pumpkins, and camp. You may find us on the Polar Express in the winter, and come spring, we'll be making slime, throwing water balloons, and riding bikes.

My Interests

I am a square that loves to organize things and work on all the details. I love to write and dance. I was Colorguard Captain in high school and college, and I loved marching band. I enjoy watching movies and have seen a wide range from black and white and silent to modern Netflix adventures. I love teaching and have taught two siblings growing up. Most of all, I am very energetic!
