Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) is a school-wide approach to teaching and recognizing positive behavioral choices among students and staff. Students are taught the behavioral expectations, acknowledged when these are demonstrated, and given opportunities to correct misbehavior when necessary. Additional supports are put in place when a child needs more interventions in order to be successful at school.
Our committee uses data to make decisions about what is needed next in our school. This year, our goal is to increase the percentage of students following appropriate school-wide expectations (students with one or less office discipline referrals) from 80% to 83%.
