Mr. Patrick McCarthy

Hi! I'm Patrick McCarthy, and I'm excited to be teaching here at Odell!

I'm a native of Southern Maine - home of lobster, the Chickadee, the pine cone, and of course our state bird, the mosquito! I attended the University of Maine system in Orono and Portland and recieved my Bachelor's degree in Music Education with a vocal concentration back in 2000. I taught professionally in my home state for 10 years serving a high school, two churches, two community choirs, and I was a member of various bands.

2010 was a year of great change for me and saw me realize a dream of becoming a working musician. I spent two jam-packed years traveling and working all over the country in a band called "Ball in the House". We performed both nationally and internationally, and it was a wonderful experience, though hard to sustain with small kids at home.

In 2012 I relocated to Huntersville and took a job serving The Center United Methodist Church in Concord and also taught chorus at Bailey Middle school in Cornelius. After four years I stepped down when our third child was born at only 30 weeks. For the past three years I've been home with her and also working part-time positions at The Community School of Davidson and Hawthorne high School in Charlotte. I also launched a kids community chorus called "Lake Norman Singers" in 2017 and maintain that group still today. You can check us out at www.LakeNormanSingers.com :-)

While I'm new to elementary school, I feel blessed to be given the oppportunity to instill a richness of music, culture, and musical literacy to the students here at Odell!

Sing on!
