Welcome to AP Seminar with Ms. Mathews!
This is the second year that Cox Mill has offered the AP Seminar course, and the first year I will be teaching it. AP Seminar is a skills-based course that develops students' critical thinking, research, writing, and presentation skills in order to effectively equip them for higher education, other high school classes, and leadership in the workplace, as well as effective citizenship.
- AP Seminar is a yearlong course that meets every day.
AP Seminar is part of the AP Capstone program that also includes AP Research. Students who successfully complete AP Seminar are eligible to take AP Research the following year. Together, they make up part of the AP Capstone program, and students who meet all the requirements will earn an AP Capstone diploma. This diploma signals to universities that the student is capable of college-level reading, writing, and research, and that they are committed to their education. An AP Capstone diploma is an impressive achievement that will stand out on your college application.
