The STEM Academy of Aviation and Aerospace at West Cabarrus High School introduces students to three fields: aviation (piloting), avionics (maintenance and repair) and aerospace engineering. Hands on experiences, internships, and field trips allow students to gain skills to prepare them for a future in the aviation industry.
Academy programming allows students to take traditional high school courses with the addition of approximately one class per semester in the chosen career pathway. Students in our academy programs are still eligible for Advanced Placement (AP) and Career and College Promise (CCP) coursework, as well as athletics, extracurriculars and fine arts programming. Students in the program at West Cabarrus High also have the ability to participate in our IB Career Programme (CP), offering the rigorous academic program and well-rounded student development of the IB program alongside their career-oriented coursework.
