What are the bus safety rules?

What time should my child beat the bus stop?
For the first month of school, be at the stop 20 minutes early. Bus route times will eventually regulate. Be at the stop 10 minutes early for the rest of the year.
How often does my child need to ride the bus to keep his/her spot on the roster?
A student must ride once every 10 school days to remain on the bus roster throughout the year.
Can my child eat and/or drink on the bus?
No.Eating and drinking on the bus can create a choking hazard.
What are the consequences for not following the school bus rules?
The school administration reserves the right to administer consequences as necessary for not complying with the school bus safety rules. These consequences include, but are not limited to: school bus suspensions, in-school suspensions, detentions, and out-of-school suspensions.
Are buses guaranteed for all students?
Bus transportation is a privilege and one that can be revoked at any time if rules are not followed.
Why doesn't the bus stop directly in front of my house?
Assigned stops may not be in front of your house. There are predetermined stops based on State guidelines. The transportation department uses these stops when assigning students.
Does my child have to get on and off at his/her stop?
Yes.Students must get on and off at assigned stops. If an occasional need arises,students can be permitted to get off at a different stop ON THE SAME BUS. Please send a note to the AP in advance with this request.
My child wants to ride home on another bus with a friend. Is this allowed?
No. Students are assigned to specific bus rosters. They can only ride the bus to which they are assigned. For example: Mark is assigned to Bus 43 in the mornings and 96 in the evenings. Mark can only ride bus 43 in the mornings and can only ride 96 in the evenings.
How long does it take for my child to be assigned to a bus?
At the beginning of the school year, the process can take up to 2 weeks for an assignment. As the school year progresses, the process is much quicker. Please wait to be contacted by the school before putting your child on the bus.
What do I need to do to change the bus assignment for my child?
If you have moved or need transportation to a different location (babysitter, daycare, etc.), please go the "Transportation Documents" at the bottom of this page. Download and complete the form "Request for Bus Transportation" and send it to school in care of the AP. Please wait to be notified by the school before putting your child on the new bus.
