Mrs. Ashley Becker

My name is Ms. Ashley and I am the teacher of the Smiling Sloth Class at MFWC.  I was inspired to go into Early Childhood Special Education after my own son attended Mary Frances Wall.  I began by working as a TA at the Wall Center while finishing my degree.  This is my fourth year as a lead teacher, but my seventh at MFWC. I enjoy working with young children and am constantly amazed by how much they learn from and teach us. My goal is to provide children in my classroom with the experience and guidance to help them continue on their developmental path.

Ms. Summer is the Teacher's Assistant in our classroom.  This year is Summer's 8th year at MFWC and our third year working together as a teaching team.  Our classroom has a speech therapist, an occupational therapist, and a physical therapist that come and go from the room throughout the week, providing services that are listed on students' IEPs.

Our classroom pet is a Betta Fish named "Fish".  He provides the children with the chance to experience nature and to learn limits and responsibilities in the classroom.  Fish has been vacationing at my house this summer and is returning for his second year in the Smiling Sloths classroom.

"If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of.  There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person." - Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers)
