Regina Caviness

Welcome to the website for Mrs. Caviness!

I am so excited about starting my 4th year here at Mount Pleasant!  I will be your teacher for Health Science.  I am a Registered Nurse and formerly worked for Atrium Health Cabarrus on the Family Medicine Unit.  I have also worked on orthopedic and post-surgical floors and I have worked with geriatrics.  I look forward to sharing my knowledge of this field with the students.  When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Joey and our family.  I have 3 daughters (Elisabeth, Sarah and Chrissy), 1 son (Matthew), 2 son-in-laws (Brett and Steven), a cute 3-year-old grandson (Thomas) and my first granddaughter was born on September 21st (Whitley).  We love camping, especially at the beach!

    This is where you will find information on Health Science classes, Mount Pleasant’s HOSA club and Student Council.

     

    During Tiger Time, we allow time for clubs to meet.  Both HOSA and Student Council meet in the Health Science classroom on Thursdays (alternating between HOSA and Student Council).  We will have meetings before and after school also to allow all students to be involved.

    HOSA meeting Tuesday, January 31st after school  in Health Science room F114.

    I will be placing more information regarding HOSA club soon.

    HOSA club dues. 

    Dues are $20.00/year.  State and National HOSA Membership Dues ($10/each).

    Second semester dues must be paid by 1/31/23 !!

    Make sure to put the student's name as a reference when paying dues.

    Canvas is where you will find assignments for your class.  Please see directions below if needed to access Canvas.

     

    Accessing Canvas

    This can be done by either:

    • by clicking on the Canvas icon on the MPHS homepage
    • by typing canvas.instructure.com in your URL bar.

    To log into Canvas as a student, type your CCS username and password.

    Parents, you can access your student’s Canvas course as an observer!  For directions on pairing with a Canvas class, please see the document called “Creating a Parent Canvas Account” by clicking on the documents tab to the left of the screen.

     

    REMIND CODES

    Please sign up for Remind!  It will be a very important way that we can communicate during our virtual learning.  You can download the app on your mobile phone or go to the website remind.com.  I will send out reminders and information through this app.  I have also turned on the message feature so that you can contact me through the app.  Please be courteous and don't message after 10pm.  I will normally answer back within minutes. Text remind code to 81010.
