Welcome to my new classroom website! I will be spending some time getting everything together but would appreciate any suggestions along the way.
There are many areas to the website that I know you will find great value in. My goal is to make the website not just a tool for me, as the psychologist, to connect with parents, but also a learning tool and resource for the students. I will be adding information on various difficulties encountered by adolescents as well as resources for students and families over the course of the first semester. I hope that you find these to be helpful.
I would like for you to know a little about me. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, and while I haven't lived there in 16 years, it is still "home" and where most of my family still resides. I have lived in the Rocehster area with my husband and daughter for 8 1/2 years.
My undergraduate degree is from the University of Pittsburgh. I earned my M.S., Ed.S. degrees in School Psychology from Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL; and I earned my Ph.D. from SUNY, Buffalo in Counseling and School Psychology. I have been a school psychologist in both traditional and non-traditional settings for nearly 14 years. I have permanent certification in school psychology from the State Education Department and I am currently working toward licensure in NY state. I have a passion for working with adolescents and I truly enjoy working with teachers, administrators, counselors, and especially students and parents.
My interests/hobbies include studying Irish culture, aerobic exercise, and spending as much time with family and friends as possible. My daughter takes Irish step-dancing lessons, so feel free to ask me any questions about it...I love to talk about her!
The 2010-2011 school year will be my first full year here in Brighton. In the past, I worked in schools ranging from PK through 12th grade and also alternative high schools for students with emotional difficulties. I worked in Alexandria, VA and Arlington, VA in these schools. In the Rochester area, I was employed by Rochester Hearing and Speech Center as a school psychologist and I worked at Western NY Children's Psychiatric Center in West Seneca, NY and Rochester Psychiatric Center while completing my doctoral studies. I am looking forward to working with all of the Brighton High School staff, students, and families.
