Babylon Athletics

Michael De Joseph, District Director of Health, PE & Athletics

A Message from the District Director

Dear Babylon Families,

Welcome to the Babylon athletic program. We are fortunate to have dedicated coaches leading our student-athletes as well as a network of support from our administration, staff, parents, and community. Our program is governed by the rules, regulations, and procedures prescribed by the New York State Public High School Athletics Association, Section XI, and the Babylon School District.

The overall goal of the program is to further the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students through participation in athletics. Athletic success is most often measured by wins and losses; our goal is to find success in competition, in the classroom, and in the community.

Success is defined by a variety of desired outcomes:

  • Goal setting and a commitment to a common goal
  • Develop a work ethic and dedication to daily improvement
  • Respect for others in practice, competition, and in the community
  • Build lifelong friends and meaningful relationships
  • Celebrate success and learn from failure and adversity
  • Gain communication and leadership skills, learn to be part of a team
  • Appreciate the importance of good sportsmanship
I remind you of the need for all, (coaches, participants, and spectators), to promote and observe positive sportsmanship in competition and in the stands. Let the coaches coach, let the officials officiate, and let the players play.

Please contact me with any athletics-related questions and/or concerns.

GO PANTHERS!
Michael De Joseph
District Director of Health, PE & Athletics

LATHAM, NY - The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) is pleased to announce that it has entered into a partnership with College Select, LLC for a three-year agreement as the “Official College Preparation Service to NYSPHSAA and its member schools.”

“We are grateful to have a partner like College Select so that our 600,000 student-athletes who engage in the college planning process can do so with much more ease,” said Robert Zayas, NYSPHSAA Executive Director. “College Select will provide parents, athletes and non-athletes a number of convenient features to seamlessly go through the application process during one of the most important decisions of a high school student’s life.”

The Association will promote College Select, which is a web based technology that automates the college planning process, at its 32 state championships, meetings and on its web site to help its membership with various areas of college planning.  Furthermore, NYSPHSAA plans to promote College Select's step-by-step process for the completion of financial aid forms in addition to their database of every college and university in the country.  The service will allow students to perform a customized search by their location, state, major, GPA, standardized test scores and/or sport. College Select also provides an efficient structure to allow students and families to take ownership of their college preparation further simplifying the planning process.

"We have leveraged our proven methodology by creating this comprehensive platform that features all the tools needed for a simple college planning solution," said Dominick Ferraro, College Select's Founder and CEO. “College Select automates the college planning and recruiting process so the system does the work for the student and their families.”
