Transforming a Schoolhouse
Riverside Daily Press- July 1, 1924
Contract Made on Alvord BuildingTrustees of Alvord School District last night awarded to B. B. Fowler of Arlington the contract for remodeling the Alvord School, the price being in the neighborhood of $22,000.
G. Stanley Wilson, a Riverside architect, made plans for the rebuilding which were said to be very pleasing to school officials and patrons. The rebuilding will consist of adding:
- Two classrooms, a domestic science laboratory, library, auditorium with stage, and social hall
- The building will be of Spanish type architecture.
- The classrooms opening upon an enclosed central patio
- A steam heating plant and new plumbing will be included
It is anticipated that the Alvord School will be a model in the county for rebuilt school houses.
