Nurses are always available to talk to an individual about any health concerns.
Illness
In an effort to protect the health and well-being of the ASCTE community, guidelines have been established for the treatment of communicable diseases and the timelines for a student's return to school by the State Health Department and Communicable Disease Center. A physician's return to school note is required for illness related absences to be excused.

Medications
Students may receive over the counter and prescribed medications as approved by their licensed health care provider and parent (Prescriber Parent Authorization Form).
Medicine must be brought to school by a parent in the original container with the pharmaceutical label. Your pharmacist can give you an extra labeled bottle to use for medication at school if you request it. Controlled substances will not be allowed in a student's possession (e.g. dorm room, book bags, purses, personal belongings, etc.) Examples include but are not limited to: medications for ADD/ADHD, pain relievers, sleep aids and anxiety medication. Students may self-administer the following after submission of all school medical authorization forms: inhalers, eye drops, epi-pens, medications used in hygiene regimens. Self-administration of medications is a privilege. Annual interviews between nursing staff and students are conducted to ensure medication knowledge and safe practices.
End of academic year medication policy. Parents must pick up unused medicine. Medications will be destroyed two days after the last day of school if left at the nursing services clinic.
