Completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is free and quick, and it gives you access to the largest source of financial aid to pay for college. Applying gives you access to grants, loans, and work study jobs. Starting Oct. 1, students and parents may complete the FASFA. Step-by-step process for application is listed below.
#1 TO GET YOUR FSA ID, PLEASE GO TO…..https://fsaid.ed.gov (student and parent both need to create an FSA ID; students must do this first). After students create an account, parents need to make an account at the same link. How to Create an Account and Username (FSA ID) for StudentAid.gov
#2 TO COMPLETE/APPLY FOR AID GO TO….https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa (go to “pay” and then “apply for aid”)
#3 TAP APPLICATION….https://webapps.hesc.ny.gov/hescpin/main (go to “pay” and then “apply for tap”)
After completing this online you will be directed to complete The New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). Completing this gives you access to more aid from New York State to help you pay for college.
