Superintendent DeBarbieri's announcements for May 31, 2024
May 31, 2024
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff,
It’s hard to believe that tomorrow is the first day of June and it’s even harder to believe that there are only 3 weeks left until school is out for the summer! Time sure does fly when you’re having fun!
I have a few announcements to share with you today:
Mental Health Awareness Month:
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Mental Health Awareness Month activities. It was great to see all the green today during our district-wide green out! Each school day we posted a “Tip of the Day” from our students on social media. If you missed any, please check them out on our website.
Athletic Awards:
The induction ceremony of the Baldwinsville Community Athletic Hall of Fame and the naming ceremony for the proposed, renovated main gymnasium at C.W. Baker High School will be held during the Baldwinsville Central School District’s annual Athletic Awards at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 6th in the high school auditorium. The Athletic Awards honor varsity student-athletes for their outstanding performances during the 2023-2024 school year. The event is open to the public. Check our website to learn more about Coach Leo Johnson and meet the Hall of Fame inductees. A livestream will be available and the link will be posted on our website.
Scholarship Awards (formerly Moving Up Day):
C.W. Baker High School’s annual scholarship awards ceremony of the Baldwinsville Community Scholarship Foundation will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5th in the high school auditorium. The scholarship awards honor senior students for their outstanding achievements and assist them in their pursuit of further education; be it collegiate, trade or vocational programs.
Athletic Highlights:
Members of our Boys and Girls Outdoor Track & Field teams participated in State Quals on Thursday. Two of our relay teams placed first for Division 1 and will compete in the NYSPHSAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship on June 7th and 8th at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. Congratulations to our Boys 4x800 team: Noah Covert, Paul Clark, Zachary Arria and Ryan Wilson. Congratulations to our Girls 4x4 team: Amerie Williams, Emerson Clavijo, Aaniya Johnson, Kamryn Barton. Ticket information. Go Bees!
Marching Bees:
Our Marching Bees will be in the Marcellus “Olde Home Days'' Parade at 3 p.m. on Saturday and at the Cortland Dairy Parade at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Go Bees!
Homework Survey:
Earlier this week we sent out a survey to parents/guardians seeking feedback from students and families about homework. Students and families can reflect/discuss each question then complete each survey together, or complete them separately. The feedback collected will be used by the district's Policy Committee to inform future revisions to our homework policy and to support principals and teachers in understanding the impact of homework on key stakeholders.
Here is the link to the Student Survey. Here is the link to the Parent/Guardian Survey. Both surveys will close Wednesday, June 5th at 4:00 pm.
