Veterans Day Message from Superintendent Perry

As we look to celebrate and thank our Veterans for their service on Friday, Nov. 11, please see the following message from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Perry.

Dear South Colonie School Community,

As we approach Veterans Day, I would ask each of you to take time to remember the sacrifices of the men and women who have served in the United States armed forces.

The service members that we honor are ordinary people who have stepped up in extraordinary ways to respond. They share fundamental qualities like courage, pride, integrity, determination, selflessness, as well as dedication to duty.  All of these qualities allow these individuals to serve a cause larger than oneself.

To our staff whose spouse, partner, or child is a veteran or is currently serving our country: thank you for supporting them in their decision to serve.  Having served in the U.S. Navy, I personally recognize that you embody some of the best “old fashioned” values of Duty, Honor, Country.  You have my respect and my gratitude.

And to our Board of Education, parents and community members, volunteers, and supporters who have served: thank you for your service and sacrifice.

We owe each of these patriots a debt of gratitude for their service in defense of our freedom. It is because of them, and their families, that we can enjoy the freedoms that we often take for granted.

Sincerely,

Dr. David Perry
Superintendent of Schools
