The Lisha Kill Middle School Student Council organized a supply drive this fall to support Things of My Very Own. Things of My Very Own, located in Schenectady, is a non-profit organization that provides crisis intervention services to children and works to keep them with family members who can provide safe, healthy and happy homes.
Because many of the situations that arise through this organization are sudden and unexpected, the children who are affected often need to start from scratch when it comes to their belongings, and the supplies collected by Lisha Kill’s staff and students will help provide ‘Things of Their Very Own’ as they start anew.
Two carloads of toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, hygiene supplies and more were recently dropped off to volunteers at their center on Green Street. One volunteer wouldn’t let those who brought the donations leave without hugs.
