Sand Creek Teachers Attend State Science Convention

teachers work with a long handled rocketSand Creek Middle School teachers Hope Bigwarfe and Stacey Sebert attended the 123rd annual STANYS (Science Teachers Association of New York State) convention in November.

They attended workshops such as building straw rockets and landing safely on the moon, a micro-plastics presentation from Dr. Ebert (SUNY Oneonta), a metrics in measurement workshop, and how to become a National Geographic Certified Educator,  just to name a few.

Hope and Stacey also presented on the EARTH (Education and Research: Testing Hypotheses) workshop that Stacey attended the last two summers and both have used lessons from. Stacey also presented another workshop called Project Atmosphere, which is based on a workshop she attended over the summer on Meteorology. Both presentations were well received and reviewed.
