South Colonie Board of Education approves plan for wrestling; Season set to begin Saturday

South Colonie student-athletes are cleared to begin practice for wrestling immediately after the South Colonie Board of Education approved the start of wrestling at a special meeting held on Friday.

The board unanimously approved the addition of wrestling to the district’s high-risk winter sports offering.

“We are excited to allow our wrestlers the opportunity to have a season,” said South Colonie Athletic Director Joseph Guardino. “I appreciate the patience of our student-athletes and families as we finalized safety protocols and addressed feedback from our Medical Director.”

Similar to other high-risk winter sports offerings, wrestling will resume without spectators beginning tomorrow.
