Distributive Education Clubs of America, also known as DECA gives students the opportunity to prepare for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, or becoming an entrepreneur.

CCHS hosts a DECA club, dedicated to preparing emerging leaders with the opportunity to participate in competitive events that involve written and interactive components aligned with their career goals and programs of study.

This week four students from Colonie Central High School (CCHS) participated in the regional competition at Rockland Community College with two students placing in their respective events.

Marissa Osei placed fourth in Restaurant & Food Services Management and Ryan Kozel placed fourth in Marketing Communication.

Other competitors from CCHS included Brendan Kozel and Elizabeth Tran.

“I am very proud of the hard work and dedication all of my students displayed in this competition,” said CCHS teacher and club advisor Susan Stone. “The personal and academic growth students receive from challenging themselves in DECA is extremely beneficial as they prepare for the next step in their educational journey.”

The students that placed this week will be eligible to attend the state competition in March in Rochester.
