Based on a strong partnership with Capital Region BOCES, South Colonie students are able to gain access to local businesses to develop the skill sets to develop their future employment opportunities. This partnership continues to support an important narrative to allow current students to develop their educational priorities, while building their employment skill sets.

Career and Technical Education programs provide students with access to areas that focus on career pathways, such as: understanding career/industry backgrounds, building self-confidence in the classroom, and determining employment opportunities in today’s workforce.

“The Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical Education program allows students to pursue an innovative way to enrich their educational pathway, while building the skills necessary to enter the business community with qualified experience,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Perry. “This innovative curriculum continues to push the envelope in creating quality, hands-on learning opportunities for our students.”

Career and Technical Education programs continue to build on strengthening access to resources, building connections within our regional business community, while coordinating it through curriculum platforms – which allows CTE curriculum to enrich the development of students. By exploring these programs, today’s students can continue to benefit from a first-rate educational initiative to enter the workforce.

“We take great pride in affording all learners opportunities to define their pathways for success.  Our partnership with Capital Region BOCES has and will continue to bolster those opportunities and instill life enriching skills on which the foundation of high quality careers can be forged,” said CCHS Principal Mr. Kachadurian.

As of today, South Colonie students have access to 29 programs through CTE, which range from automotive and construction to education and entrepreneurship opportunities.

In addition, the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical Education programs offer accessibility to more than 300 BOCES business partners that offer demonstrations, work-based learning opportunities, career advice, and more.
