Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced during his press conference today that New York state will remain “on pause” through May 15 to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
As part of this order, New York state schools, including South Colonie Central School district, will remain closed through May 15. The governor could extend the closure again if he feels it is necessary to contain the virus.
At-home learning
Our teachers have been in contact with students and their families to provide instructional materials and will continue to do so throughout this extended closure in accordance with the district’s plan for continuing instruction.
Food Service
South Colonie Food Service and Transportation Departments will continue to provide breakfast and lunch for students, free of charge, while schools are closed at the following locations:
- Colonie Central High School, 9 to 11 a.m. Monday-Friday
- Lisha Kill Middle School 9 to 11 a.m. Monday-Friday
Lunch and the following day’s breakfast will be provided at the above pick-up location each weekday. Families are asked to open their trunks when they arrive so that staff can safely serve meals. At the request of the state, beginning Monday, April 20 South Colonie staff members will be requesting students’ names during meal pick-up. *Please note that this may slow down the pick-up process.

College Board cancels May and June SATs
In light of the coronavirus pandemic, the College Board recently announced it will not administer the SAT exams and SAT Subject Tests that were scheduled for May and June.
Students who already paid the May or June SAT registration fee will receive refunds. The ACT exam previously scheduled for April 4 was rescheduled for June 13.
To help students keep their college readiness skills sharp when school is closed, the College Board is providing free resources online, including full-length practice tests and personalized learning tools. Students can also access free SAT preparation through Khan Academy.
