Social studies teachers Lexi Rucinski and Erin Lasky took two teams of high school students to their first Academic World Quest competition. The Academic World Quest is a team game testing high school students’ knowledge of international affairs. In the game, four-person teams compete by answering multiple choice and fill in the blank questions divided into ten unique and engaging thematic categories.
The students met monthly for the first part of the year, then weekly as the competition got closer. Team 1 students were juniors: Grace Kahil, Grace Conley, Gosephine Lizzi, and Gabriella Kolodziej. Team 2 students were junior Mukundan Thanigaivelan and freshmen Ethan Stark, Seamus McWatters, and Diganta Biswas.
Team 1 tied for second and Team 2 placed fourth against local teams from Shenendehowa, Shaker, and Schenectady.
We were very proud of these Raiders for their commitment to this subject and a great showing at their first competition. Stay tuned to see what these students will do next!
