Matter Matters!

For the past few weeks, our class has been studying the three states of matter and their properties. We've looked at how solid, liquid, and gas particles are arranged and what kinds of changes they go through. Recently, we looked at how matter can change from one state to another.

We conducted an experiment to see what would happen if we removed heat from a liquid. Of course, we incorporated food!! We took coffee creamer pods and shook them in a container with ice and salt to see what would happen. After lots and lots and lots of shaking, we removed the pods and found ice cream! Sort of... Our class concluded that our liquid was in the process of transitioning into a solid but wasn't there quite yet. As the scientists we are, we deduced that we would need to shake even longer to achieve a true solid. The results we still pretty yummy!
