Carnival of the Animals
Today in First Grade music class, we began to learn about “Carnival of the Animals” by Camille Saint-Saens. We started to read a book called “Carnival of the Animals” by Barrie Carson Turner. As we read, we learned about the special orchestra that Saint-Saens set up and compared it to a typical orchestra. Next, we will begin to read about the animals. After reading about an animal, we will listen to the song and act it out. One of the most fun animals to act out are the tortoises, the song sounds very slow, so we will move slowly around the room. I am sure they will also enjoy pretending to be the birds, we will catch worms and flutter around fast just like real birds. The students are enjoying using their imagination to make the music come to life!
