Who Likes Hot Chocolate? Or Coffee?
Mrs. Casady’s RTI group recently finished a book called Who Likes Hot Chocolate?
The main character in this short fiction story, Mike McCarthy, has the perfect money-making scheme, or so he thinks. When no one buys his hot chocolate on a bitterly cold day, this young, disappointed entrepreneur reconsiders how he's conducting business.
Students practiced different story elements, reading strategies, and learned some new economic terms such as business model, profit margin, and sustainable.
To celebrate the conclusion of our story, and the beginning of the holiday season, we enjoyed hot chocolate or a specially-made coffee drink while we read from another book called Spare the Turkey. It was unanimous among the group that we would not like a vegetarian Thanksgiving dinner!
