Lady Midgets End Season in District Championship Game
The Putnam County Lady Midgets' softball season came to a close following a loss to top-seeded Marceline in the Class 2, District 7 Championship game. The second district championship appearance in three years capped off a very successful season from the Lady Midgets, as they finished the season with a 17-6 record. In Grand River Conference play, the Lady Midgets finished with a mark of 7-1, finishing behind eventual Class 2 state runner-up Trenton. The Lady Midgets also came home with some hardware in their first trip to the Centralia Invitational, finishing 3rd with their only loss coming to eventual tournament champion and Class 3 State Champion, Mexico.
The Lady Midgets JV squad also had a very successful season, closing out an undefeated season, with a 2-0 win over Clark County. The JV team finished their season 10-0-1, with a scoring differential of 93-15 in their eleven games. Both teams (Varsity & JV) finished the regular season undefeated at home (11-0), outscoring their opponents 83-23 on their home turf.
