Screenings Are Done And Speech Has Begun
Ms. Wickert and I have completed our speech, language, and hearing screenings for the elementary and sent home permission forms for speech intervention services for anyone we felt needed to work on speech sounds. If your child did not receive a permission form, but you have concerns with their speech, please feel free to contact Ms. Wickert or me anytime; however, it is most likely because their speech errors are still age-appropriate and may remediate on their own. For a reference of the normative ages of acquisition of sounds, please see https://dese.mo.gov/sites/default/files/se-com-state-normative-data.pdf . We are seeing students with IEP’s and will be adding students for speech intervention as permission is received to do so. Parent-teacher conferences will be in a couple of weeks so I look forward to visiting with you. However, don’t feel like you need to wait until conferences--if you have a question or concern, please call me anytime.
Congratulations to Ms. Wickert who is the proud mama of another boy--Rhys Ryan Robinson arrived safe and sound on 9/25/18, so Ms. Wickert will be gone for a while, but her students are being seen by our speech implementer who is supervised by me. If you have questions or concerns about any of her students, feel free to call me too!
Thanks again for sending us your children for another great year!
Sincerely,
