Pickwick to Add Additional Classrooms

After only two years, Pickwick has outgrown the facility that opened in 2018. The Ottumwa Board of Education approved the schematic design and design development for a 10-classroom addition.

With waiting lists at both the three- and four-year-old program, the 20-classroom facility was at capacity in its first year. This year, two classrooms are serving four-year-olds at Douma Elementary School.

The addition will include dedicated space for the preschool's before and after school program, including additional storage and a small kitchen. The project will also renovate the existing kitchen space, removing the teaching kitchen components to expand refrigerators and modify the counter to better serve students during meals.

The addition will add approximately 22,000 sq. ft. to the existing facility and cost approximately $5.6 million.
