Ottumwa Schools will host preschool registration for new three- and four-year-olds on Thursday, February 28 at 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., or 6:30 p.m. at the Pickwick Early Childhood Center. Children already enrolled will register prior to February 28. Translators will be available.
The center offers a quality, all-day preschool at no cost for children who turn three- or four-years-old by Sept. 15.
Registration includes a brief presentation. Parents then will complete the registration packet through an interview process with a Pickwick staff member. Parents need to verify their child's age (birth certificate, passport, or Title XIX card) and family income (2018 W2s or tax return). This preschool program is possible through a partnership with Sieda Head Start and the use of federal program dollars. Eligibility is not income-based.
The registration process will take approximately 45 minutes, depending on the number of parents who attend each registration block. Parents are asked not to bring their preschool-age children at this time. Parents and their children will be invited to attend an open house in August.
